Run-DMC To Reform

Though they’ve been on hiatus since 2002, the year that founding member Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell was murdered, Run-DMC is officially back together, according to AllHipHop.com.

Per a source connected with both Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Joseph “Run” Simmons, “Run-DMC is definitely back together, and it’s a great day for hip-hop.”

Since 2002, Run and DMC have refused to perform together due to Mizell’s death: “We can’t perform anymore. Nobody wants to see Run-DMC without Jay,” Run said in 2002. The duo even declined to play their April 2009 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

No word yet on new material or dates of reunion shows. Run-DMC hasn’t released an album since 2001’s Crown Royal.
