You can't really be that mad at either of these choices: Run D.M.C. and Metallica are among the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame Class of 2009. Run D.M.C. is the second rap group to get in, and Metallica is in for the band's impact on the landscape of heavy metal.
But this wouldn't be a Hall Of Fame class if it didn't give nods to random '60s rockers who are loved by the post-50 Rolling Stone readership, so questionable talent Jeff Beck is in, along with Little Anthony & the Imperials and Bobby Womack.
Meanwhile, the Stooges, Suicide, Joy Division, the Smiths, Sonic Youth, New Order and about a dozen other more deserving bands wait for the fogies to pass over the controls of the Hall to people, who, you know, have actually enjoyed new music made after 1977. Until then, obviously important groups like Run D.M.C. and Metallica will get in alongside less deserving acts of the 1960s. [via Stereogum]
