Run A Label With Crowdbands

Here’s a pretty cool extension of crowdsourcing: There’s this new website called Crowdbands that allows people who chip in $25 the ability to steer a band’s career by voting on cover art, singles, promotion and other things. At first, it seems like a joke, but in some regard, it’s like being on a label run directly by a band’s fans. The first band signed to Crowdbands is the Donnas, the formerly sorta big girl group answer to the Strokes. There’s a video above of the group talking about Crowdbands, and you can become a label executive by going here.
