Fest mania: A few days at the Rothbury

With the Vineland Festival postponed until next year, apparently there’s room on the U.S. concert calendar for one more big festival. This newbie goes by the name of Rothbury, as in Rothbury, Michigan, where it will be held. The site is a few hours northwest of Detroit. The fest will go down July 3-6 at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, where festival goers can camp out or stay in lodges. It seems the festival is shooting for a "Bonnaroo North" feel, as the bill is a mix of indie rock and jam bands. On the indie rock side, you’ve got Modest Mouse, the Black Keys, Gogol Bordello, Of Montreal, the Dresden Dolls, Beth Orton, and the Secret Machines. On the jam band side, well, we all know this whole crew, right? Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends, and so on and so forth. There’s also a groovier portion of the bill featuring Snoop Dogg, Thievery Corporation, Diplo, the Crystal Method, Sage Francis, Busdriver, the Juan Mclean, and Flosstradamus. Full lineup and ticket info can be found at Rothbury’s website.
