Rolling Stone has a great story about Lauryn Hill’s landmark 1998 album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, that’s an oral history of the album from all the principle players involved (like producers, back-up singers, John Legend, Rohan Marley, and Lauryn herself). The feature is an obvious take on XXL’s oral history series, but it sheds some light on the album, which was the subject of lawsuits, label turmoil, won Grammys, and has thus far proved a mountain Hill can’t bring herself to attempt to climb again.
