For a mere $2,000, aspiring musicians can learn how to rock from camp counselors such as Kelly Keagy from Night Ranger and Gunnar Nelson of, well, Nelson. Rock'''n'''Roll Fantasy Camps will be held at 25 ''"House of Blues-type''" venues across the US in July and August. At each stop, 80 to 100 lucky aspiring rockers will arrive at the utterly un-rock'''n'''roll hour of eight in the morning and will be the opening act for a ''"major rock act''" by six.
The traveling camps will be based one that took place on September 10, 2006 in Columbus, Ohio where 80 campers rehearsed throughout the day, then opened up for Def Leppard and Journey at Columbus' Germain Amphitheatre . And, surprise, surprise, a reality show is going to be produced about the camps. But this show promises to be different, as camp founder, David Fishof told Billboard, "We're not 'American Idol' -- we're more like 'Extreme Makeover. It's about how the power of music will change your life." [Billboard]
