The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just announced the list of its 2011 nominees. There are some names that are being considered for the very first time – including Donovan, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi and Dr. John – as well as a few others that have appeared on previous lists but stopped shy of being inducted – such as the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Donna Summer, Chic and Darlene Love. The whole list, just below:
Alice Cooper
The Beastie Boys
Bon Jovi
Chic
Neil Diamond
Donovan
Dr. John
The J. Geils Band
LL Cool J
Darlene Love
Laura Nyro
Donna Summer
Joe Tex
Tom Waits
Chuck Willis
This is really kind of a pre-pre-list; a whittled down list of final nominees will be announced in December. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 26th Annual Induction Ceremony happens on March 14, 2011, at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City. And once again, apparently, KISS and Chubby Checker are not invited. [MTV]
Really, I think we can all agree that it's about time Bon Jovi was formally recognized for their contribution to pop music at large.
Agreed, even if I can't stand them.
Go Beasties!
The real story is that KISS is snubbed again this year. BOOOOOO!
And to a lesser extent, Chubby Checker.
I thought KISS just made dr. pepper commercials.
