Robert Plant, Alison Krauss team on album

Yeah, that’s an odd pairing. But interesting. Instead of firing up the Led Zeppelin revival engine, Robert Plant has teamed with country crooner Alison Krauss to create the album Raising Sand, which is slated for an October 23 release on Rounder Records. The two first collaborated on a Leadbelly tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame some years ago.
T Bone Burnett recorded Raising Sand, and guitarist Marc Ribot slings some axe on it as well. Plant and Krauss cover tunes by Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Sam Phillips, and the Everly Brothers. Also included on Raising Sand is “Please Read the Letter,” which appeared on Plant and his Zep partner Jimmy Page’s 1998 album Walking into Clarksdale.
