Despite a June 3 posting on his Myspace page in which he denied any involvement, Rob Zombie will helm the ninth film in the Halloween franchise. In a recent press release, Dimension Films divulged that Zombie will write, direct and produce the film as well as serve as music supervisor.
In a drastic about face, Zombie went from declaring, I dont know how this story all got started but I AM NOT MAKING HALLOWEEN 9 on June 3, to gushing about his love for the original in short order: I have been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenters original film since its release. So when Bob Weinstein [head of Miramax] approached me about this, I jumped at the chance to join forces with Dimension Films on this amazing project.
Zombies filmography includes 2000s House of 1000 Corpses and 2004s The Devils Rejects, as well as White Zombies award-winning music video for More Human Than Human. His latest album, Educated Horses (not be confused with the 1978 Brian Eno album of the same name), has recently been certified gold.
Perhaps Zombie will now spend his time responding to messageboard rumors about a possible White Zombie reunion. Granted, there have been no such murmurs … until now. Make it happen, Rob.
