R.I.P. Jim Marshall, Founder Of Marshall Amplifiers

Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall Amplifiers, has died at the age of 88.

Anyone who has ever picked up a guitar, mulled over the idea, or simply attended a concert with guitarists onstage has no doubt come face-to-face with a Marshall amp. The legendary piece of music technology, which launched in 1965, has been used by almost every rock god you can think of.

From Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton to Jimmy Page, the impact of Marshall's work is as far-reaching as it gets. Not to mention, you can literally be dwarfed (and deafened!) by his amps should you attend a Sunn O))) concert.

You can read a brief obituary on Marshall at his company's website. [Clash]
