The P-Funk spaceship suffered a major loss yesterday, when longtime guitarist Garry "Diaper Man" Shider died due to complications from lung and brain cancer. Shider, who was known for performing every show in a giant cloth diaper, helped George Clinton launch Parliament-Funkadelic after they met in a New Jersey barber shop, and he played and sang on seminal Funkadelic albums like Maggot Brain (he sang the lead vocals and played lead guitar on "Can You Get To That," above). Shider was 56.
