Amelia Negron, a former prison guard at Rikers Island, was fired last month when she allegedly tried to get into the cell block where Lil Wayne was being held in order to see him. It's sort of understandable, in a way, since our culture demands we gawk at celebrities at all times. However, Negron is preparing a lawsuit against NY City claiming that she was forced to say she was trying to see Lil Wayne, when in fact, she was just trying to see one of her fellow guards:
“The door to the area was unlocked, and so I went in to say hello, and that officer said, ‘Hey, you can’t be here. We’ve got a celeb here.’ I said, ‘Okay, no problem,’ turned around and left,” Negron said.
Negron says after that, her superiors said she must have been trying to see Lil Wayne, and she was fired. She also claims to not even like rap, which seems convenient, while her superiors say she was fired for missing too many days of work. Read the story at the NY Daily News.
