British comedian Ricky Gervais has launched a new app for the iPhone called Just Sayin'. Gervais created the free app with voice tech organization CloudTalk. He's a partner and creative director for the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Just Sayin' lets users post voice messages to their Twitter and Facebook accounts. Users may also engage in conversations with one or more people which their followers are able to listen to. The app also gives users notifications when someone they follow posts. Just Sayin' can be used with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Gervais says, "Just Sayin' is to radio what Twitter is to newsprint - I'm just sayin'!" He adds, "Making the human voice a natural part of any social web experience is the next big thing. Voice as a monologue is narcissistic, voice as a dialogue is social; social media is a place where people desire to be both."
Daniel Hayden, who developed the app with Gervais, explains, "Voice has been the missing link to a person's online persona. Social media interaction is widely silent and we know text has its limitations, sentiments can be difficult to express in 140 characters."
This isn't the first foray into technology for Gervais. Earlier this year he created an online show called Learn English With Ricky Gervais.
