Back in May 2010, free man (since '09) and former drug trafficker "Freeway" Ricky Ross filed a $10 million lawsuit against Rick Ross the rapper--whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II--over trademark claims that Rozay is making a profit from his name illegally. The pair apparently met in Miami court recently, and Freeway Rick said that the rapper "treated me as if I had done something to him." He went on to say the following:
When he [Roberts] first came to me, he didn't know what position I was going to take, if I was going to send a word out to those young cats out in L.A. or not. That put a little fear in his heart. But now that he knows I'm not carrying it like that, he's a little more courageous right now.
Freeway Rick previously said in 2010 that he was "thankful" the rapper didn't have to sell drugs to get where he is. "There's so many of us out here selling drugs and getting ourselves locked up at least he's in a position where all he does is rap about it." Can anybody figure how this case might turn out? Does it matter at all that Ross the rapper has strongly marketed himself as being 'rich off cocaine'? [Vibe]
