Richard Lloyd thinks highly of his new work

Guitarist Richard Lloyd has been with seminal art-punks Television for a few decades now and played on that band's masterpiece, Marquee Moon. So it's odd to hear that Lloyd is not only leaving Television, he also says his next album Radiant Monkey will be just as good as Marquee Moon. Or Patti Smith's Horses. Or Jimi Hendrix's Axis: Bold as Love. That's some daring company for Lloyd to place himself with.
Radiant Monkey, on which Lloyd plays everything put the drums, will be out later this year. This summer, Lloyd will put in his last appearance as part of Television. That goes down June 16 in New York City at a free show for Central Park's SummerStage. Lloyd says he's leaving on amicable terms so that he can more fully focus on his own career.
