After irrationally claiming that the RIAA was going to target ripped CDs as illegal downloading activity, Gizmodo and the Washington Post have each printed retractions that clarify those assertions. The RIAA filed a brief stating that
ripping a CD and posting it on a website such as Kazaa is illegal, not that
the association would be banging down doors in search of iPod owners. But
Gizmodo didn't give too much back in its clarification: The article doesn't
