Rhapsody in Mog

Mog, essentially a tricked out MP3 blog search engine, has made a deal with RealPlayer in an effort to provide more mainstream music legally. They've essentially co-opted Rhapsody's entire music library. This means that the Rhapsody library is available for searching, sharing, and listening; you must either pay the normal $10 a month Rhapsody fee, or stick with their 25 free listens a month limit. In a preview video of the new system, an anonymous male voice refers to the new Mog as "...the fastest, easiest way to listen to just about every song thats ever been made."  Hyperbole aside, the move is perhaps as beneficial to Rhapsody as it is to Mog.  The Mog interface is pretty ingenious, and includes the option of a light Flickr-style desktop program that lets you share and gather information about the music you listen to (a bit like Last.fm on steroids). This new union therefore provides an arguably sexier, smarter way to use the Rhapsody service.  Then again, the whole reason someone would spend their time searching MP3 blogs might theoretically be to avoid paying for MP3s.
