It's a tough world out there, with Microsoft launching new services and Apple unveiling its new soul-sucking iPod. Rhapsody continues to get its hustle on, announcing new partnerships to help keep its game tight.
Reminiscent of the company's partnership with Sansa to make a special Rhapsody-flavored e200R player, Rhapsody announced that iRiver will put out two flash players that work with Rhapsody DNA (meaning better compatibility and faster speeds). The Clix 2 will be one, and the other will be an unspecified device that will allow downloads over wi-fi to the player (almost certainly the W10 we reported on earlier).
Rhapsody will also support streaming its music to TiVo boxes, and the somewhat lesser known Logitech Squeezebox/Transporter wireless audio devices. Partnering with TiVo could be big, especially with functionality to mark tracks for later purchases on the Rhapsody service. This partnership will work on Tivo Series 2 devices and quite possibly on the new HD Series 3 line.
