Having grown up in Anaheim (right next to Newport!) and spending time in the "white trash" region of Riverside, I have a bit of melancholy hearing that the O.C. will cash it in next month. They did the right thing killing Marissa and had a bit of creative upswing this season, but viewership is down to half its original numbers and they're getting out before they fade completely into obscurity. It may be hard to remember in the fickle zone of pop culture, but the show did drive a lot of music forward into the public consciousness. Ryan may have been the unconvincingly young id of the show, but Seth was certainly the soul and taste decider of the operation, the sort of clever gawky kid that would probably grow into an annoying hipster but was awkward enough to not be overbearing with his indie cred. He worshipped Death Cab for Cutie and read Chuck Klosterman's Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs. The show's "Bait Shop" club made underage drinking easy and hosted bands like Modest Mouse, The Walkmen, and The Killers (oh, and, uh, Rooney.) And who could forget the "Beck-isode" featuring five tracks from Guero? Hip-hop and electronic wasn't quite so cutting edge, with requisite entries from LCD Soundsystem, Zero 7 and Lady Sovereign feeling a day late, but they can't pick all your music for you. So rest in peace, O.C. I still think if you brought in the Asian gangsters from Better Luck Tomorrow for a story arc you would have had at least another season in you, but Newport's had enough shine for now.
They definitely needed to kill Marissa off earlier.I would watch the show again if Asian gangsters from Better Luck Tomorrow were brought in the mix.

Please an Asain gangster? Like an asain pool player right, they would have not shot from the begining... but I do know 1 man that might pull it off... DJ DP. They could even get Lucy Lui to play his love interest...
