Reports of layoffs at Interscope

The Daily Swarm reports the buzz is that there will be loads of layoffs at Interscope today, which isn’t that big of a surprise, what with the total collapse of the economy and the fact that the music industry has had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel for years now. One label A&R person reportedly describes it as “a bloodbath here today.” So, um…that can’t be good. For more, go here.

Who are the big artists on Interscope right now?

Well, Eminem/50/Dre are still signed technically, but the label hasn't had a big seller in awhile.

A lot I guess......
Dr. Dre's camp probably being the most important.

Damn. I wonder if people at the label are blaming Dre and Eminem for losing their jobs. That is a lot of money that those two would generate if they ever came out with a new album.

Here's a bit more at Billboard Biz:
Roughly two dozen staffers were cut at Interscope Geffen A&M on Friday, according to sources. The layoffs hit the A&R, marketing and promotion departments and impacted mostly mid- and entry-level staffers, according to one source.

The layoffs come as Interscope plans for highly anticipated albums from 50 Cent, U2 and Eminem in the coming months.
