R.E.M. Not Planning to Tour In Support of New Album

The latest news about R.E.M. is, ironically, kind of non-news: The band has announced they won't be touring in support of Collapse Into Now, their newest (and fifteenth studio) album. The Athens, Georgia Music & Arts blog writes, "The ever lovely Bertis Downs, R.E.M. manager, said the simple answer is the band doesn’t tour with every album and this is one of those cases." So, unfortunately, it might be some time before you hear those new songs in a live setting. Just a heads up for fans.

Collapse Into Now, by the way, after much buzz, will actually be available for sale in its entirety on March 8. [via Pitchfork]
