R.E.M., Postal Service, others cover Lennon for charity

Via Billboard:
I'm hoping Bill Berry just sees the light and goes ahead and rejoins R.E.M. full-time. He got back with Stipe, Buck, and Mills last year when the band was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. He'll be with them again tonight at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shindig. And he recorded a cover of John Lennon's "#9 Dream" with his old bandmates for the upcoming compilation Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur, scheduled to hit stores June 12 on Warner Brothers. While it hasn't been revealed yet who exactly is covering what, the Postal Service, Regina Spektor, Green Day, Snow Patrol, and others will be handling John Lennon songs. All proceeds will go towards Amnesty International's efforts to help alleviate the dire situation in Darfur. For more info, go to InstantKarma.org.
