Throughout their 30 years as a band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have seen and done it all. However, what happened at the band’s tour stop in Oklahoma City was a first for the Rock N Roll Hall of Famers.
Longtime fans of the Los Angeles Lakers and basketball in general, the Chili Peppers were denied a request to tour the locker room of the Oklahoma City Thunder before their show at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Apparently, this was the first time that a team wouldn’t let the band take a peek at their locker room.
In a series of Tweets, Flea expressed his displeasure with the team.
“We are playing nba arenas all over the country and every team has invited us to see the locker room but the thunder say no. Noveau riche.”
He added that even the Boston Celtics, the historical rivals of the Lakers, allowed them to look at their locker room.
With the teams expected to be competing for the Western Conference title this season, no one would have though that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would add spice to a budding rivalry.
