They've perfected the perfect drink mixer that keeps you awake while still allowing you to get hammered off vodka. They've sponsored myriad "extreme athletes," from skaters to BMX'ers worldwide, while simultaneously co-opting their sports/lifestyle/culture in its branding efforts. And now it appears that Red Bull wants to get into the music game. Red Bull, it gives you wings. And now possibly the next Wings.
According to Digital Music News, Red Bull is gunning for a serious music initiative. Just what that means remains unclear. However, Digital reports that the energy drink company is in the planning stages of making music industry executive placements, as well as the construction of a recording studio facility. Red Bull wouldn't talk to Digital, but its article named names linked to the project. They report the following who are involved: General Manager David Burrier from Atlantic Records; A&R-focused executives Meredith Chinn (Warner Bros.) and Gregg Hammer (Universal Records). Sadly, Digital couldn't dig up any news on any specific artists or signings.
