Yahoo! Movies has released a Red Band trailer for End of Watch, the new crime drama from Training Day scribe David Ayers. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as Los Angeles police officers patrolling the most dangerous areas of south central LA. After they bust a notorious cartel at a routine traffic stop, their lives and the safety of their family is put in jeopardy.
End of Watch will feature the “found footage” narrative gimmick made popular by films like The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield. The action of the film is presented as footage collected from handheld cameras used by police officers, civilians, gang members and surveillance cameras.
The trailer features enough violence and language to make it clear that End of Watch’s R-rating will be a “hard-R” and it’s definitely not-safe-for-work. The film hits theaters on Sept. 28 from indie distributor Open Road Films.
