Although some may see this as an early funeral celebration, over 300 independently owned record stores across America and the U.K. will join together on April 19th and celebrate Record Store Day.
The celebrations will include in-store performances and artist meet and greets all around the country. Metallica will do their first meet and greet in ten years at Rasputin's in Mountain View California. Panic At The Disco will be in Austin, at Waterloo's.
Bjork has a special treat for fans as she teamed up with organizers to offer a 3-D version of her video for "Wanderlust". 3-D glasses will be distributed at select stores with a special URL for a secret online location to view the video. Stephen Malkmus and Vampire Weekend will both release limited-edition vinyl releases just for the event.
Record store day is iniated by the Alliance Of Independent Media Stores, Coalition of Indenpendent Music Stores, Music Monitor Network, Newbury Comics, and Value Music Group of Indie Stores.
