Read Between The Lines

They were never the subject of a snazzy biopic, and there are no haircut bands making a killing off a half-assed imitation of their sound (yet), but The Lines were nevertheless a crucial component in the fabric of the late-'70s/early-'80s British post-punk scene. They shared members at times with cult-fave peers like Prag Vec and Alternative TV, and between 1979 and 1982, eked out a handful of releases. Running the gamut from twitchy guitar spasms to dubby cool and ambient atmospherics, those releases have languished in the vinyl graveyard for decades, remaining strictly the province of hardy collector types. However, the fine folks at Acute have finally performed the public service of making the Lines' music available for the digital age! The Memory Span collection comes out on 5/27, check this site for more on the band in the weeks to come.
