The Kinks' chief songwriter and singer, Ray Davies, will drop a CD come Nov. 10 called The Kinks Choral Collection. The album is pretty well summed up by its title: It's said to feature new choral adaptations of old Kinks faves like "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night" and "Waterloo Sunset." For the occasion, Davies collaborated with the 65-member Crouch End Festival Chorus.
Other featured tunes include "Days," "Victoria," "See My Friends" and "Celluloid Heroes." Kinks kultists should also take note that the album also offers a six-song suite from the band's beloved 1968 concept album, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society. Amazon has preview song snippets out already.
The only question that remains is why didn't he call it The Kinks Khoral Kollection? Maybe Davies is getting serious as he ages.
