Raveonettes Return With New Album, ‘Obesrvator’

    On September 11, gloomy Danish duo the Raveonettes return with their sixth album, Observator. That’s the album art up above, and it certainly indicates the sound (and headspace) of the new record. Guitarist Sune Rose Wagner reportedly went on a three-day bender prior to the album’s recording, resulting in “the greatest exploration of [the Raveonettes’] signature dark, big beat, melancholic, fuzzy sound to date,” according to their label Vice Records.

    Wagner and vocalist Sharin Foo recorded at Hollywood’s famed Sunset Sound with some liquid courage in tow. Producer Richard Gotteher manned the boards, his first Raveonettes record since 2005’s Pretty In Black.

    The booziness presumably will continue on tour this summer and fall as the duo just announced a big North American tour in support of Observator. Check out the dates below:
