Many of you are likely familiar with rapper G-Dep, whose real name is Trevell Coleman, for his time on Bad Boy Records, which led to his hit "Let's Get It" and Child of the Ghetto LP. Others might recognize him for his verse on Gang Starr's "The Mall" off Moment of Truth. But now, we're all going to be familiar with the Harlem rapper for another reason: His confession of a murder in his hometown 17 years ago.
According to the New York Post, which has additional information, Coleman entered New York City's 25th Precinct last Wednesday night and admitted that he murdered a man in 1993. Prior to his confession, police had dubbed the incident as a cold case, but officers found that his rundown of the night matched up.
The 36-year-old rapper said that he confessed to the crime after no longer being able to deal with the guilt, which was reportedly "just eating away at him."
