Rage @ Coachella not just a one-off

On the Coachella DVD that came out last year, there's a clip of Wayne Coyne claiming he hoped the big Pixies show in the desert would be a career-ending spectacle for the band, with Kim Deal closing things out by breaking her bass over Frank Black's big, bulbous head.
Anyone hoping for a similar mythical appearance by Rage Against the Machine at this year's fest before, say, Zach de la Rocha disappears back into obscurity, are out of luck. But anyone who didn't get Coachella tickets before they sold out and still hope to catch a reunited Rage are in luck. The band will be part of this year's Rock the Bells tour. Organizers of those shows announced today that Rage has at this point committed to appearing at three RTB shows, one in New York City July 28, one in San Bernardino August 11th, and one in San Francisco August 18th. And who is accompanying Rage at such momentous occasions? Why, none other than Wu-Tang Clan. Double bill of the year?

[...] It’s always interesting to see what fellow artists are going to give the induction speech for their heroes and friends at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This year is proving to be no different. Leading the pack would be the C.E.O. of the ROC himself, Jay-Z, who will do the honors for the first rap group to get into the Hall, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Eddie Vedder will induct R.E.M., which should undoubtedly lead to him joining the band on stage, as he did during 2004’s Vote for Change tour. Zach de la Rocha, more and more coming out of hiding now, will give the speech for Patti Smith. Keef “The Coconut Fighter” Richards will induct the Ronettes. And, in quite the rockstar supernova, Velvet Goldmine will fete Van Halen, a band who may be there reunited in full with David Lee Roth or who might have no members show up. [...]
