An anti-war concert headlined by Rage Against the Machine at the Democratic National Convention in Denver was held without incident, drawing a crowd of nine thousand music fans. The concert was opened by State Radio, and by the time Rage Against the Machine took the stage, the Denver Coliseum was filled with concert goers, who received free tickets via lottery.
The show was sponsored by Iraq Veterans Against the War and Tent State University, who also organized a march to the headquarters of the DNC at the conclusion of the concert. Both groups stressed the action was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience, and that marchers have been instructed to use passive protest methods. Rage Against the Machine also plans a concert September 3 in Minneapolis during the Republican National Convention. [Associated Press]
