Rafter returns with risque new album in January
Rafter Roberts is one of the many merry-making musical artists who orbits around Sufjan Stevens' scene and records for his Asthmatic Kitty Records. That label is scheduled to release Rafter's second full length on January 22. The album goes by the rather provocative name of Sex Death Cassette. Roberts cites influences as diverse as Fela Kuti, Guided by Voices, Stevie Wonder, Lightning Bolt, and Paul Simon as hallmarks for the new album's sound. Roberts has kept busy between Sex and his debut Music for Total Chickens by producing work for other artists like Fiery Furnaces and the Album Leaf, crafting advertisement jingles, and putting up a new song every week on Asthmatic Kitty's site.
