The members of Radiohead have a proven track record of unconventional marketing, and that policy now extends to the Chinese market. The band has set up an account on a social networking service in China named Sina Weibo, which is the most popular microblogging site in the country according to this report in the Independent. Twitter is banned in China so fans there can forget about reading tweets by Thom Yorke and his band, but nearly 60,000 followers have already signed up to follow them on the Sina Weibo site. The only message posted so far simply reads "Testing the Weibo.” The account is verified, so there seems to be little doubt that the band or its management is behind this.
