According to NME.com, Radiohead art collaborator and personal friend of Thom Yorke, Stanley Donwood designed an album cover for the mp3 release that was never used. Right before the album's mp3 debut, the cover art, described as "embracing color" and "a toxic rainbow" was ditched in favor of nothing at all. Donwood seemed upbeat declaring, "I paid no pence for the album." Well, Stan, that makes about 400,000 of us.
