Radiohead denies reports of cheapskate downloaders
In addition to setting a date for the physical release of In Rainbows, Radiohead has issued a statement fiercely denying reports that sixty percent of downloaders failed to pay anything for the ten song set. While the band called the initial reports "wholly inaccurate," neither they or their publicist offered any financial information to the contrary. Obviously if a band offers something for free, most people are going to take it without paying anything. Not that it really makes paying nothing above board, but it's human nature. I have plenty of friends that would have purchased the album but downloaded it for nothing because the option was available. Maybe they were in the minority, or maybe Radiohead just wants us to think that its fans are a higher class of people.
