Questlove Speaks on Bilal

Along with Bilal's touring of various spots around the globe, his camp is promoting his upcoming proper sophomore effort through videos such as the one you see above. Previously, the gifted vocalist has been big-upped by the likes of Phonte and Janelle Monae, but this time it's Questlove, aka the face of the Roots, giving props. He goes so far as to say that Bilal is the "greatest specimen of voice in post-modern hip hop culture."

Now, for Questo to say something like that, especially someone as outspoken as he is, you know that's not just him buttering up a friend. And, you know what, I'll go so far as to say anyone who has heard Bilal's work will likely co-sign that statement. I just hope his forthcoming record, Airtight's Revenge, which is sounding great, gets the respect it deserves.

Airtight's Revenge is due out Sept. 14.
