Questlove, Hey Champ Play Prom for Lesbian Teen
Apparently, a gal bringing another gal to the prom is a huge deal in Jackson, Mississippi. But despite local judges rejecting the ACLU and school officials cancelling prom altogether, Chicago electro-pop trio Hey Champ and the inimitable Questlove will give Constance McMillen the chance to dance at the Second Chance Prom. The event is also gaining funding/approval from the likes of ex-N'Sync-er and Mississippi native Lance Bass, Green Day and the American Humanist Association.
According to the announce, the purpose of the prom, which takes place on May 8 in neighboring Tupelo, is "to create a safe space [for LGBT] students and allies to "have a safe and fun night where everyone feels comfortable being themselves.
