Questlove Celebrating #dillamonth With Covers, Tributes

We are five years from the day James “J Dilla/Jay Dee” Yancey passed away from complications related to the blood disease TTP. And in the years following his death, his family, friends, and fans have been celebrating his life in numerous ways, from the J Dilla Foundation to the Donuts Are Forever parties to covers of his greatest productions.

The latter of those has been expertly handled by his closest friends and collaborators, including Madlib and, in this case, Questlove. Over the past week or so, the Roots’ drummer and producer has taken to his Swift.FM account to post a series of Dilla tributes and covers for #dillamonth. So far, he has posted his and Mike Feingold’s take on “Rock N Roll,” a reinterpretation of “Verbal Clap” off De La Soul’s The Grind Date, and much more.

Be sure to bookmark Questlove’s SwiftFM page if you want to keep up with and listen to these goodies.
