Queens of the Stone Age Bassist Joins With Mark Lanegan Band To Form Supergroup of People Who Have Worked With Mark Lanegan

Dire speculation was bountiful recently when Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell suddenly cancelled a string of stateside dates, but his band at least seems to have landed on its feet. The singer's backing musicians will be performing with a new band, Sweethead, featuring a lineup cobbled together by Queens of the Stone Age bassist Troy Van Leeuwen.  Vocals will be handled by Serrina Sims, so any comparisons to the Mark Lanegan Band or Queens of the Stone Age will probably be brief. Sweethead will release a debut EP on July 13. Those interested in hearing the band now can download its debut single, a cover of the Kinks' "Tired of Waiting For You" for free here. [NME]
