Q’s Top 50 unapologetically British-centric

When your magazine is predicated on the greatness of British rock, it has to be expected that your picks for the 50 best albums of 2008 would feature a bunch of albums by British artists. But seriously, Q magazine, Razorlight (21), Kaiser Chiefs (14), and Keane (12)? Seriously?

Q’s top pick ought to raise some eyebrows too: they went with the cock rock of Kings of Leon’s Only by the Night at number one. That’s kind of expected, given the Kings’ huge British fan base, but I don’t expect many American mags will have that album anywhere near the top spot.

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III hit the list at number 15—the only rap album on Q’s list. Which only goes to show that even if you hate rap music (as Q obviously does), putting Tha Carter III on your list is a given.
