In a recent interview with Giant Step, the longtime Tribe Called Quest leader and producer Q-Tip revealed that he's currently setting up shop in the studio alongside Kendrick Lamar and D'Angelo, as well as R&B singer-songwriter Ledisi, among others.
"I’m basically doing a lot of production right now, and that’s going really well," Tip said. "I’m about to start my new album in the latter part of the summer and it should be out next year, so I’m excited about that. I’ve been excited about music in general, so it’s really good. I’m making music for other people and myself: Kendrick Lamar, D'Angelo, Ledisi."
The "new album" he's referring to his G.O.O.D. Music full-length debut; Tip is also expected to contribute in one way or another to the G.O.O.D. collaborative album Cruel Summer, out later this year. It's unclear which project(s) he's working on with Lamar and D'Angelo, though he might be referring to the former's Good Kid in a Mad City and the latter's forthcoming comeback album, tentatively titled James River.
