Hip-hop yuppies rejoice: Q-Tip and Common are forming a hip-hop supergroup. Or superpair, anyway, according to an exclusive interview with XXL.
They'll be called The Standard, which we're assuming is a hint that they will set the bar for excellence, rather than a nod to nailing hot wannabe actresses at a rooftop hotel pool. Q-Tip maintains that it was Common's idea: ''"He was like, 'We just need to do a record.'''" The Abstract will handle most of the production, but they're hoping to snag Kanye for a couple tracks as well.

ya its a great concept.. the guy who had the best rap album (And highest selling ) of 06, and is well respected and one of a kind lyracist , with the guy who brought us the best in the 90's before breaking up with phife dogg and the rest... what more could u want? and if q-tip makes beats that remininsce of the old tribe called quest jazz infused beats, then its def going down. |

Q-Tip's involved, which means the label will invariably shelf it. Don't even get me started!
