Promoters throw right hook at Jay Reatard

· by

As we reported last week, Jay Reatard recently punched a fan in the face, trash-talked promoters and wrote a lengthy MySpace diatribe after a disastrous show in Toronto. Now, the promoters who Jay threw stones at are calling him out.

In an e-mail to Chartattack.com, Against the Grain (the company that promoted the show at the Silver Dollar) co-owner Jeff Cohen wrote "Jay's rant on his blog...was not only highly unprofessional[,] it was factually inaccurate. While passionate, it was just a blame the promoter diatribe. Not cool. [In my opinion], Jay, everyone who works with him, his agent, his label, the promoters he works with, and especially his fans, deserve much better."

Cohen also claims that there was a security person on hand during the show, and he says that Jay never paid anyone out of his own pocket, even after the other co-owner of ATG asked Jay to refuse pay and give refunds.

Silver Dollar booker Dan Burke said in the same report that there were not 350 people at the show, but he didn’t say how many there actually were.

As for that guy Jay punched in the face, he didn’t look too sad about his sweater as Jay rained down a fist to his cranium. (See pic 11 here).

Ball’s in your court now Jay. We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
