Producer Claims Blur Stopped Production On New Album Three Weeks Ago

It seems Britpop legends Blur have put a halt to production of their next album. Rumors have long been floating around about a follow-up to 2003’s Think Tank, and earlier this year the band confirmed that they had something in the works. Now that’s all come crumbling down, however, thanks to frontman Damon Albarn supposedly.

Producer William Orbit recently told NME that production on the new record stopped about three weeks ago and that, “The new stuff sounded amazing. Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, ‘Is this it?’” NME also points out a recent tweet by Orbit: “Blur could have been good. But Damon, brilliant and talented tho he is, is kinda a shit to the rest of blur.”

Halted record aside, Blur still plans to play shows around the UK this summer and perform as part of the London Olympics ceremonies. [NME
