Prince has announced that he will release three albums in 2009-- two solo albums, MPLSOUND and Lotus Flower, and one protege album from Bria Valente, titled Elixir.
MPLSOUND was recorded at Prince's Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis, is more pop-oriented, and features a guest verse from Q-Tip. Lotus Flower is reportedly more guitar-oriented, and includes a cover of Tommy James and the Shondells' "Crimson & Clover."
Valente's album was produced by Prince, and he had a heavy hand in making the album. He said that they "got sick of waiting for Sade to make a new album," so they made Elixir.
It's good to see that Prince has plans in 2009 beyond shutting down every YouTube video bearing any of his songs. [Billboard]

It's strange how all these artists that seemed very anti-internet/fan get all gung ho as the years go by. (See Metallica)
