Prince: "The Internet's Completely Over"

It’s already plainly established that Prince is no fan of the Internet—just witness the many takedown orders he’s issued for YouTube uploads of his work. Now, the singer is releasing his new album, 20Ten, by giving it away in newspapers and magazines, and has granted one of those publications—Brit tabloid The Daily Mirror—an interview.

"The internet's completely over," he explained to the newspaper "I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it, and then they get angry when they can't get it." It’s unlikely that iTunes pays anyone an “advance,” although presumably Prince has been paid upfront by the magazines and newspapers giving away 20Ten.

"The internet's like MTV,” he continued. “At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers, and that can't be good for you." So, there you go Internet. It was nice knowing you. Can the last person out please turn out the light? [NME]

anyone see that hes a bit odd? The internet not going away because noone can get his album. I don't know anyone who even likes prince. He's a bit outdated.

At some point the internet will be replaced by something else. And when this happens, Prince can say he called it! (ironically, he might have transformed into some kind of disembodied digital quantum-consciousness by the time this occurs).

I mean, he also thought having a name was "over." So, you know, grain of salt.
