Prince fans living on the East Coast have had to wait since 2004 for a chance to see The Purple One deliver one of his legendary live performances. Prince's dearth of East Coast appearances clearly had an effect on generating excitement for his five-show "Welcome 2 America" tour; his two appearances at the 20,000-capacity Madison Square Garden arena in New York sold out in only 30 minutes.
The shows, slated for Dec. 18 and 29, will feature performances by Janelle Monae, Maceo Parker and Sheila E., among others. Prince has urged attendees to arrive early and "bring foot spray," because he promises "it's gonna be funky."
For those who weren't able to snag tickets to the shows at Madison Square Garden, Prince will also be playing three dates at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. on Dec. 14, 15 and 17. [Billboard]
Janelle Monae makes great sense for that bill.
Agreed. Wish I was goin'.
I almost spent A LOT of money on floor tickets for this. It was an hour of anguish before I finally decided I needed to eat and pay rent with the money. I'm sure it'll be an amazing show.
i got totally ripped off because of this bogus press release. The garden didn't start selling tickets until noon today Dec. 10, and there are still plenty available. I could have paid $75 less for my two tickets if I had gone right to the MSG page instead of a resesller.
