Looks like James Cameron has been influencing more than just his fellow filmmakers. The 3D trend has finally leaked out of the movie industry into the music world--and surprisingly, Primus will be the first to pick up on it. The band has announced a fall tour that will be enhanced with 3D visuals and Quad Surround Sound for a "one-of-a-kind psychedelic experience." Peering through 3D lenses might add a neat layer to the concert experience for those willing to sit down the whole time, but last I checked, glasses and mosh pits don't mix so well. (I lost a shoe when I last saw Primus. There's no way in hell I'd be able to keep a pair of shades on my face.) Still, this might be a nifty development in the vein of visuals-based concerts--and if the band's historical aesthetic is any indication, at least the imagery will be fun to look at.
Primus will announce tour dates and further details this Monday, July 30.
