Pulp fans’ hearts were surely set aflutter by news that the reunited band will be headlining the Primavera Sound festival in Spain next year. Now, the festival has confirmed an impressive roster of artists that culls from indie rock both old and new and across subgenres. The list of added acts includes proto-punk legends Suicide, reformed Swans, Belle & Sebastian, and John Cale – who, along with his current post-VU band will perform his 1973 album Paris 1919 from start to finish. The lineup will also include Animal Collective, The National, Fleet Foxes, Flaming Lips and Mogwai. And indie stalwarts Mercury Rev will perform the entirety of their gorgeous 1998 album Deserter’s Songs. That’s a pretty good haul, especially when you consider that previously announced acts include Half Japanese, Fiery Furnaces, Broadcast and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.
Primavera Sound will take place from May 25-29, 2011. The massive festival – there are six stages, including an All Tomorrow’s Parties stage – will be held at venues in both Poble (May 25 and 29) and Barcelona (May 26-28).
